At AlaTrust, we believe in building stronger communities through education, empowerment, and opportunity. One of the ways we live out this commitment is through the AlaTrust4U Foundation, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting financial literacy and supporting students and educators across Alabama.
Through the Foundation, we:
- Visit hundreds of schools to deliver hands-on financial literacy simulations, helping students gain essential life skills.
- Award scholarships to students in need, opening the door to college and career success.
- Actively support and give back to educators, providing resources and recognition for the incredible work they do every day.
- Offer free financial resources to our community that keeps their best interest at heart
- Host fun interactive community events to destigmatize asking questions about finances and encourage individuals to find resources like our foundation who can give them honest not self-motivated answers

In 1935, AlaTrust Credit Union was founded by the Birmingham Board of Education for educators. In 2014, we expanded our services to support all those in our community regardless of occupation, but made a commitment to continue support educators to honor our founding by teachers for teachers!
Our Foundation helps support some of the many ways we give back to educators in our state. From popping by with encouraging treats to discounting mortgages (Homeroom Program), we have a wide spectrum of programs in place to support Alabama Educators.

Through the AlaTrust4U Foundation we have provided our financial literacy simulation, Bite of Reality, to hundreds of schools in Alabama since 2021. Our simulation provides life changing knowledge and lessons in a hands on way to help children learn, experience, and remember the importance of financial choices.

One thing we've learned since offering financial literacy resources is that sometimes the people with the most questions aren't sure who to ask or where to start!
In an effort to bring financial literacy to where people are and decrease the stigma of asking for help, we partner with local coffee shops to offer a "Financial Literacy Hour". If you ask our representatives any financial question, than you can get any one drink free at the coffee shop we are "popped-up" at!
Thank you to our coffee shop host partners who make this program possible!
